Arrival
I came to Decatur Island to find my self. I had been practicing silence for a decade yet had managed little in the way of self-understanding. I purchased five acres containing its own vibrational stipulation of honoring the sacred self - not through the diefications of capitalist religion, but in the essence of refuge from the self and the mind that creates it. If all goes as unplanned, failure and success will carry the project through to fruition. No timeline exists - save that of the unknown. I suspect the build will take lifetimes.
Time and space are specific to the third dimension. Completely ambiguous remaining just out of reach, space and time, like all things, are one. Our timing for this space proved fruitful and welcoming. I could see the smile under the debris and the desire between the overgrowth. What I do for you, I do for me. Below is the property on the first week after arrival. Within 6 weeks the entire place was cleared out, save the tiny home and the pump house. I and the land felt lighter, clearer, at ease. Permitting was a year long wait, add the ground prep and tiny home sale, and two years will have passed before building. We both needed that time and space to mature into and become each other's energy.

The as-is condition of the Tiny house and property upon our arrival. The tiny house protected me, warmed me, soothed me, and patiently showed me its needs. I returned the generosity through maintenance, rewiring, new plumbing, cleaning, and painting. It never once complained or brought up the past, threw tantrums, gossiped, spoke ill of its previous owners or anyone for that matter, or demanded more of my efforts. Rather, it stood steady, patiently steering me here and signaling there, always kind, always respectful. I cried the day it left the land - off to shelter another. Even now as I write these words, tears of gratitude warm my cheeks. I heard it say, "Now, you know."

The view from the back of the property shows the appearance of trash, but these treasures were just a few weeks away from a new life. At the bottom of the driveway is a brand new 25 foot King Fisher aluminum boat trailer. The boat trailer became a gift to anyone willing to take the 5th wheel and 'last-leg' van at the same time. I posted the free trailer in craigslist and a week later, the new owner came to pick up the spoils.

Deep in the back of this picture is the last-leg van, wedged between a large Fir on the left and a grove of 4 alders on its right. After this picture was taken and before the van was moved, I, (hindsight is 20/20), placed 3 pallets of building materials directly behind the van, completely blocking its only route out and off the property - a maneuver that tested and verified my driving prowess.

As the universe tends to do, it nudged me into gear. A buyer was coming to pick up the van and 5th wheel in 5 days. So, after hot wiring the engine, I shimmied the van around the fir, hugging its bark, side-longing a dead stump effectively on two wheels, continuing to drive out and around on two wheels to the clearing.

Negative ions are released in sunlight and rain and are considered cleansing. Negative ions increase oxygen to the brain restoring clarity and balance, they kill mold and bacteria, and eliminate particulate matter - all naturally. Above, the van is basking in direct sunlight. killing the mold. I turned the van on daily to make sure it would make it down to the barge. On the day of the move, the van made it down to the barge and then promptly died on the boat. The new owner placed a piece of aluminum foil between the battery cables and voila! C'est la vie nouveau. The van, boat trailer, and 5th wheel, were driven off the barge, and I returned home more free.
