Wk 6 Tongue and Groove Ceiling

The weather needed to hold for 3 days to finish the tongue and groove ceiling and install a vapor barrier. All the energies came into a vortex and voia! First layer completed and covered in "under budget" two days.

Sixteen foot tongue and groove boards spanned the thirty four foot ceiling perfectly, leaving only a two foot section to cut. The boards were lined up against the soffit, then pulled up onto the roof and laid face up. Swept with a broom, then sealed with Bona NordicSeal White Wash. Taking approximately 15-20 minutes to dry, I was able to paint about ten boards on the south end of the roof, then move to the north end of the roof and paint those boards. Then back to the south end and flip the boards over and pin down. I loved installing this ceiling. The quick pace and constant movement zenned me out for the entire week.

The roof is about two thirds completed by late morning.

The vapor barrier hanging off the roof keeps the ceiling clean and free of knicks and acts as a place holder for materials and tools.

Howard has a great sense of humor.

Stunning ceiling on the interior.

Approximately fifteen boards left to install before moving on to the north overhang. The tongue and groove gets covered in temporary extra vapor barrier until the next morning's installation of Grace ice and water shield. In the distance, two pallets of rigid foam board insulation that will sit on top of the tongue and groove forming a ten inch R-40 insulated roof.
