Declining an invitation takes a semblance of self-understanding present in all humans but not always accessed. No to me is yes to you. "True to me" develops with exercise. What may surface as, "No thanks," is act of honesty to the self. Such is the purpose (if purpose existed) of life - to know the self so well as to weed out the filler and shed light on the seeds sown. No's force me to look into an identity I think I am, question my practice of acceptance, demand me summon the courage within. No's re-evaluate, recalibrate, and balance. Where do I stand without No?
