Faces. Those masks we wear and ask others to donn. The kitchen and bedroom storage cabinets are no exception. They needed a face.

Drawer dummies are final act of two full days of construction. In and out. Measure. Cut. Fit. Hone. Measure. Fit. Sand. Measure. Make a new one. Measure. Cut. Fit. And on it goes...the process of applying a face.

The completion of these faces whittles the finish work for the house to a cabinet, two corner shelves, joists fascades, and a possible counter top redo.

The storage cabinets beam with newness. Symmetrical lines. Simple. Elegant. Faces.

Faces. Where did mine go? The young one. The only one I know. I replaced it with a version better equipped and more
endowed to handle the weight of responsibility that comes with artistic dignity only age can bring.

Autumn more than half gone, like my life and my face. Someday soon. my entirety whittled down without a trace.

For now though, like my cabinets and drawers, I donn the fascade of aesthetically pleasing - at least to me - in an attempt to save face.
