Portal Part 5 - Raising the Gate

Of course I cried. Portals bring out the best in me - in everything. I left off at the winch. Two inch thick boat tethering rope ran around the center of top of the Portal, then attached to the winch, which was attached to another rope doubled around a boulder. Amidst light rain, the winch wedged the legs of the Portal against the edge of the holes providing the third corner of a triangular arch. Two pulls on each wall jack climbed the Portal higher. Two pulls on the cinch tightened and centered the weight. And so the process went. Howard wanted lunch. I kept cranking. I felt otherworldly. Tears flowed. Pacing between the pulls. Stop. Check tension. Check connections. Check Self. Check. The Portal was almost upright. I stroked the legs. Thanked the trees that made the beams, the body for its skill. The next pull started the slide down into the holes. My heart was in my throat. I was conscious of not breathing. Portal seated. Staring. Pacing. Sitting. Tears flowed. Coughing as the body resumes function. Lost I had no desire to be found. Torii gates bridge above to below, within to without, me to you. All connected. All One.
