Sunsets and sunrises - the power of perspective

The sun sets. The sun rises. These sentences are lies. The sun does not set, nor does it rise. The earth rotates and travels in an elliptical pattern around the sun. The earth moves, not the sun. But both these sentences create an idea that the sun is to blame for the perception of sunset and sunrises, rather than my mind's perception of the situation. We learned these sentences as tots, long before we could talk we were being taught how to blame. Not intentionally. Most people would consider this harmless, but the truth is that these little detail sentences build on each other to create an illusion of being helpless. If we are told that the earth is spinning around the sun, we would recognize our own contribution and effort as the cause of the world around us. We are of the earth. Look at the body closely and its entirety is atoms. In this atomic realm, all are atoms. The human perceives atoms as forms: trees, people, buildings, rocks, shoes, pens, scrubbies, washers, 2x4s, you get the picture. Yes, you and I created a picture in our mind of each of those things. Those pictures are ideas, our imagination at work. Perspective, ideas, imagination is the power of the human mind. Every human is responsibile for the world in which that individual lives. Maybe that world resembles someone else's but only superficially. If I use the word box in a sentence, you dear reader have an idea of a box. This box is completely different than my box, but a box nonetheless. Your box is your responsibility. My box is mine. We both created our own boxes, and now we must deal with that idea of our box. Taking responsibility gives us all the power we need to manipulate our box. We can change the color, the size, the quality, the dimensions, the contents, the lack of contents; we can even destroy the box and replace it with a succulent or a rock or a paycheck. We decide. Response-ability is all each one of us have. We spend every single moment of our life responding to the images, ideas, and perspectives that our minds create. That power alone gives us sovereignty. In my world, the sun does not set or rise. In my world, the earth spins on an axis an in an elliptical pattern creating experiences that transcend description and defy the mind. I choose to perceive a setting and rising sun - or not. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and such is the power of perspective. I feel a little wobbly as I see the earth rotates exposing sun rays that peak over the pumphouse into the kitchen window. Magic. Today is the gift of a new perspective.
